Toronto recently hosted the first-of-its-kind Building Indigenous–Jewish Friendship conference, bringing together approximately 70 Indigenous and Jewish activists, academics, and community leaders to explore shared goals, allyship, and opportunities for collaboration. ALCCA Honorary Chair Harry S. LaForme, who is Anishinaabe and a member of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, was among the featured speakers.

The conference was the culmination of a weekend of Indigenous–Jewish programming that included participation in the UJA Walk with Israel, a discussion on early 20th-century Zionism, and a Sabbath lecture at Temple Sinai.

ALCCA members Allied Voices for Israel and Canadian Antisemitism Education Foundation were among the event sponsors.

The conference underscored the value of Indigenous–Jewish allyship and the role that dialogue and relationship-building can play in fostering greater understanding and mutual support.
