Since October 7, 2023, antisemitism in Canada has surged, with the Jewish community targeted in shootings, firebombings, intimidation, vandalism and hate speech on our streets and in our schools.

Despite a full range of criminal and municipal measures to combat hate, the authorities in various jurisdictions have been slow to act.

In this critical webinar, hosted by the Canadian Institute for Jewish Research (CIJR), ALCCA Chair Mark Sandler explains how legal strategies – both criminal and civil – must be used to hold extremists accountable, challenge institutional failures to protect the Jewish community, and those who facilitate hate activities.

He discusses the current work to develop a nationwide criminal law strategy and a parallel funded lawfare strategy to advance public interest litigation on behalf of the Jewish community.

Watch the full webinar below to learn how legal action can be a driving force in combatting antisemitism.
