In an interview on the Toronto Today podcast with Greg Brady, ALCCA Chair Mark Sandler discusses the legal issues likely to arise if an injunction is sought to stop Toronto’s Al-Quds Day rally. Al-Quds Day is an annual event founded by the Iranian regime in 1979 that has been associated with calls for Israel’s destruction and the promotion of the Islamic Revolution’s ideology.

Sandler explains the high legal threshold for restraining speech related events before they occur, while outlining concerns about the hate speech associated with prior rallies, the criminal offences likely to occur if the rally takes place, and the need for vigilant enforcement of existing laws.
